#TRAUMABRAVED — An independent and selective roleplay blog of a chicago med based original character. oc friendly. written by LAUREN (she/her, 30+)
GUIDELINES
001. I have been writing for basically my whole adult life, so nearly ten years at this point. I started out in groups in the glee fandom, however I am happy to have found the one chicago fandom. While we are small, we are also mighty but we are growing! Medicine has always fascinated me, however, I don't have the balls, or money to actually go to medical school so roleplay it is! My favorite thing is to take an episode, and try to expand the world in the realms of those shows; creating original characters and connect dots that we don't see in the weekly one hour episodes. If you are new to me, welcome! I am so happy you are here! The list below are my current active blogs.
▪︎gaffns chicago med multimuse
▪︎f1ftyone chicago fire multimuse 002. Standard roleplaying etiquette is heavily enforced on this blog. While I would hope most veterans would know these by now, roleplaying is a community where people come and go. So please take a look at my do's and don'ts.
OTHER
I will also not write with problematic face claims. I do not have a list, but basically if they have done some shit or if they are a certain website, I chose not to write with that muse. and this list is not complete, but they are the mains ones I can think of at the moment.

As soon as Elyse could walk, her parents former gold medalists Maria and Carlos Sánchez, had her in the gym. Her parents wanted her to defend their legacy from both the 1984 Olympic games held in Los Angeles, and the 1988 Games that were held in Seoul. They had a reputation and they were the best. It was possible. So to say that most of her childhood was in the gym wasn't an understatement. It was her life, and it was all she knew. She reached the junior elite level at the age of ten, and she was getting reconation with every single landing she stuck. She was called the next Mary Lou Retton, or Nadia Comaneci several timesAt the age of twelve, Elyse was number four in the country and on track to be an Olympic athlete. However, She wouldn't be eligible for the 2004 games in Athens, Greece. However, that didn't stop her parents from pushing her as hard so she was ready for the Beijing games in the year 2008.It got to be a point where she was overtired, and mentally exhausted in 2006. She was at practice for a club meet when she was on the uneven bars and under rotated her dismount, breaking her leg in two places as a result. Thankfully, she didn't need surgery, but was out of commission for about eight months so she could properly heal. What felt like the minute her body was ready, she was half a year away from the world championships, a year and a half from the next Olympics. This was when her parents started to really treat her horribly. Unfortunately, Carlos and Maria started to immediately put pressure on her again just like before her injury , controlling every aspect about her life. It was something she truly didn't notice until now, since she was older. But she was already deep in the sport, and couldn't walk away. she kept her head up in front of her them, but would cry behind closed doors. the long hours, a controlled diet, and constant smaller injuries. they claim it was because they were making up for lost time, but she was too naive.at age sixteen, she was number two in the country and ended up making the team for the 2008 Summer Olympics in Beijing. On the outside, she was happy to be living her dream of going to compete at these games, but on the inside, she was just the opposite. dreading it, wanting to just get it over with. She ended up winning two individual gold medals, and two individual bronze. Plus a fifth gold medal with the rest of the team. This was enough to satisfy her parents, the pressure she felt eased. But that was a complete fakeout, and about a month later, training for the next competition began.she was at her breaking point. she was done mentally years ago, but was too scared to say something. Now? She finally did it. To say they didn't take it well, was an understatement. They were pissed and threatened to kick her out of the house and cut her off. She was being gaslighted into thinking that she needed the sport. Deep down she knew she didn't. Eventually, her parents agreed, and let her quit the sport, but was to attend public school. At first, this excited her.Oh how wrong she was.High school was far from the occasional movies she was allowed to watch. Having never been inside a school before, she had no idea what to expect. It was cliquey, and overcrowded. She really didn't have any friends, except for the few she had throughout her life. But her parents viewed them as competition so she was banned from seeing them outside of the gym. Then going home was traumatic. When her parents were not ignoring her, they were mentally abusing her. She quickly learned to make her own meals, plus sometimes thiers. The only thing that kept her sane was the education that she recived, She has always had good grades from her private tutor, but it was obvious she came to her junior year with a lack of skills that most high school students had.__________________________ignore everything below here if you are reading this ⇩⇩in her heart, she wanted something else. she wanted to help people, heal people. at the age of fifteen, she told her parents about her other aspirations. it didn’t go well; it took her everything she had to convince her parents not to cut her off & kick her out of their house. the next two years were absolute hell. her parents never took her seriously, and told her she was out as soon as she graduated high school. when the time came, she never looked back; not once regretting leaving gymnastics. she knew she was more than what her parents wanted for her.after she graduated high school with honors in 2008, she moved away from new york and attended classes at ohio state university. she managed to snag a small scholarship for academics. her parents never set aside money for her college education, so it was extremely tough. she relied on financial aid plus two jobs, living in the cheapest apartment she could find. it was during her second year of college she met nicholas. a second year dental student, the two of them got close really fast. he was nice, caring, handsome. after a few short term boyfriends, she wanted to find her prince charming. nicholas was that.they were going strong for two years, elyse was a senior; while he was in his last year of dental school. one night after dinner, he asked her to marry him, and she happily said yes, which led to a romantic evening. about a month later, a week before christmas, tragedy struck. nick was driving to their apartment from the university when he was in a fatal car accident, killing him. elyse was devastated, stuck in a constant state of grief. before long, she started to feel ill, ultimately deciding to go to her doctor. she found out she was pregnant.she wasn’t ready to be a mother, but she had no other options. she had to keep it. it was her baby. she realized this would be a piece of nick she will carry with her for the rest of her life. because of the events, she decided to not become a doctor, knowing medical school would be too time consuming and expensive. as a result, she decides to change her interest from medicine to dental hygiene. a small way to honor nick's memory. so she enrolled into the program to become a dental hygienist. and quickly, she was happy with the decision she made. she gave birth to aubrey brooks on August 14th, 2012. it was difficult to be a mother, but she persevered. three and a half years later in May of 2016, elyse graduated with a degree in dental hygiene. She worked at a corporate office in columbus for about two years, and eventually moved to Chicago, getting a job at a private office.. ; secretively , she was fifteen. by now , she was managing being a first time student at a busy new york city high school. all her life , she had a private tutor. she would come home and her parents would hardly give her the time of day. there were days where she no longer wanted to live , but eventually she got better as she made friends and focused on her studies. most nights she wouldn't come home until well after dark , not that her parents cared anyway. she was just glad they kept the door unlocked.
she turned eighteen a few months before graduation. she decided that because she still had money from all those endorsements and campaigns , she would move out and get an apartment. she already knew how to cook her own meals , own laundry. as she already knew how to be independent as she started to live like it during her sophomore year of high school.
she finally graduated with honors and applied to several colleges. she even got a scholarship to the ohio state university , which she took as her way out of new york and away from her parents forever. this is where and when she decided to pursue medicine.
